Using sonic attacks and acoustic target detection, Banshee is well suited for stealth gameplay and is capable of filling both attack, and support roles.

Banshee is a Warframe wielding sonic powers, released in Update 7. She is a versatile Warframe whose abilities complement long-ranged stealth engagements, static and supportive sniper/support gunner roles, and crowd suppression and control.

Trivia

  • The name Banshee comes from the Irish mythological creature which wails loudly if someone is about to die.
  • Banshee is also the name of a male superhero of the Marvel Universe, with similar abilties as as the female banshee of Warframe. [1]

BANSHEE emits a sonic shockwave that pushes targets in range with enough force to incapacitate or kill attackers.

  • Fires off a 180° forward cone attack that reaches maximum range at 10 / 11 / 13 / 15 meters. Knocks enemies down and deals 25 / 35 / 40 / 50 damage.
  • Sonic Boom can penetrate through walls and cover to hit enemies on the other side.
  • Can be used while jumping, sliding, flipping, wall-running or wall-clinging.
  • Delay of about 0.8 seconds between uses.
  • Some enemies, including most heavy units, have a cooldown before being able to be knocked down again.
  • Some enemies will simply be stunned or be knocked down, but most will be pushed back.

  • Can be used effectively as a source of instant crowd control to get large amounts of enemies out of your face incredibly quickly.
  • When combined with Energy Siphon and Maximized Power Range this ability can be used continuously to keep large crowds of units off their feet until death. This is likely the most energy efficient crowd-control effect in the game.
  • Since Sonic Boom can knock most people back, they can be instantly killed if they are sent to a bottomless pit.
  • Sonic Boom can instantly remove Hellions' jetpacks.

Using acoustic location, BANSHEE's SONAR power finds and tracks enemies, and exposes critical weak spots to everyone in your squad.

  • Enemies within 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 meters will have a part of their body glow bright orange and be added to every player's mini-map until their corpse vanishes or the effect expires (akin to the Enemy Radar aura). Lasts for 10 / 12 / 16 / 18 seconds. Hitting an enemy in the area highlighted by the orange glow causes the strike to deal 200% / 300% / 400% / 500% increased damage.
    • Glowing weak spots will show with reduced duration compared to the enemy radar portion (possibly less than 50% of the total time?).
    • Does not increase damage done to shields, even if you are shooting the glowing body part.
    • Can increase damage done by abilities if the glowing body part is the torso, since most abilities target the torso.
    • Can be affected by a body-part multiplier such as the head or unprotected body parts, causing damage to be amplified further.
  • Has a cast delay of about 0.8 seconds and a recast time of about 2.4 seconds.
    • Recasting Sonar while it's still active will override the existing Sonar, and choose new body parts to be affected.
  • Can be used while jumping, sliding, flipping, wall-running or wall-clinging.
  • When used on Infested Ancients, Sonar may target the bottom of their leg, even though that part cannot be damaged as meshes are missing from that part of the body since their model update.

Bugs

  • Enemies will not show up on your mini-map unless you are the host. Also glowing spots may simply vanish randomly, or when other warframe powers/ragdolling on the enemy occurs.

  • This ability can help with ranking up new weapons, as the damage multiplier can increase a weapon's damage to a given area, thereby increasing ammo efficiency. Coupled with Rifle Amp, this can greatly improve a weapon's effectiveness before it has enough room for much-needed mods.

BansheeSilence Silence Energy: 25Energy small Power #: 3 SilenceMod
Ideal for stealth and intrusion situations, using SILENCE on unaware enemies will limit their perceptions and tactical response. Warframe attacks, gunfire, and enemy deaths will not trigger enemy awareness while SILENCE is active.

  • Affects enemies within 25 / 30 / 35 / 40 meters of the player for 5 / 8 / 12 / 15 seconds. Ability cannot be reused for its duration even if no enemy was in range.
  • Affected enemies will glow with same color used in Energy color palette chosen by the player (or the default bright yellow).
  • Silenced enemies do not react to gunfire or alarms. This makes it easy to sneak up and perform sneak attacks on them.
    • When combined with Radial Blind enemies are completely incapacitated.
  • Has a cast delay of about 0.4 seconds.

Channelling all of her acoustic energy into the ground and surrounding environment structures, Banshee uses ultrasonic reverberations to violently shake the environment with lethal results.

  • Inflicts 125 / 150 / 175 / 200 damage in a small AoE the moment Banshee's hands make contact with the ground.
    • This is also paired with an additional instance of damage that decreases with distance, and can perform headshots.
    • Both sources of damage are affected by Power Strength.
  • Following this burst damage upon activation of the power, 125 / 150 / 175 / 200 damage per second is dealt to all enemies within 11 / 14 / 17 / 20 meters for 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 seconds.
    • Damage is affected by Power Strength.
    • Only 5 instances of damage are dealt at max level. No damage is dealt upon Sound Quake's expiration (t = 6 seconds).
    • Duration is not affected by Power Duration mods.
  • Each instance of damage has a low status chance. The Blast proc knocks down enemies in a small AoE, forcing them to recover for a short duration.
  • Has a cast delay of 1 second and post-cast delay of 1 second.
  • Enemies inside the area of effect are staggered for the duration of the skill. However, it's possible for an enemy to stumble outside of the Sound Quake range if they are too close the edge of the effective area.
  • Banshee is NOT invincible nor immune to any crowd control during the animation.
    • If you use the skill next to a crowd of Infested Toxic Ancients, be ready to take damage or die as you cannot move until the skill is over.
  • Enemies that move in to the radius will become stunned and take damage each second.
  • Can be activated while sliding but not while in the air, wall-running or wall-clinging.
  • Infested Ancients may finish their stun animation just before you finish your animation for the skill, letting them start to charge you before you get up.

Bugs

  • Caused by minimizing the game during the use of Sound Quake. The animation will continue afterward, disallowing any actions. Only leaving or dying will fix it.

  • Using Sound Quake can be a very effective crowd control technique to give your team some breathing room to do some of the following:
    • Revive a fallen teammate
    • Clear out some heavy mobs without them retaliating
    • Re-orient themselves to dish out some CC of their own.

  • Although the Banshee excels as a ranged Warframe, it also performs excellently as a crowd control Warframe using its abilities Sonic Boom and Sound Quake . These abilities are highly effective against the swarming Infested but work against the other two factions as well.
  • Moas are extremely susceptible to Sound Quake, and generally works well against other Corpus enemies. Decent against Grineer, but worst of the three due to their innate high armor.
  • Remember that Corpus & Grineer tend to do less swarming, though the stagger effect will help team members deal with enemies more effectively.
