A shotgun with low accuracy and strong recoil, but able to deliver its payload in full-auto. The Boar is best used at close range.

The Boar is a Tenno automatic shotgun. Compared to other shotguns, the Boar characteristically bears less accuracy and damage per pellet. With the widest shot cone of all available shotguns, the Boar excels at dealing with large groups of lightly armored enemies at close quarters but quickly loses its effectiveness at mid-long ranges. The gun makes up for its shortcomings with its high rate of fire and larger magazine capacity.

Can be sold for Credits64 7,500.

Incarnon Genesis[]

Evolution[]

  • Installing the Boar Incarnon Genesis requires 20 PathosClamp Pathos Clamps, 60 RuneMarrow Rune Marrow, and 60 TasomaExtract Tasoma Extract.
  • When installed, the first Evolution tier is unlocked. The following Evolution tiers, their requirements for unlocking them, and their related perks, are shown below;

Evolution I[]

  • Headshots charge Incarnon Transmutation; Alt Fire transmutes. Switching back will expend any remaining charge.
  • Fires three short-range beams that chain link enemies.
    • Incarnon Form becomes a continuous beam weapon that can fire up to 3 beams that automatically target enemies, with each beam chaining up to 2 nearby enemy within 9 meters of the initial target, with each chain doing 80% of the previous one's damage. While in Incarnon Form, it inflicts pure DmgFireSmall64 Heat damage with increased Critical Chance, Critical Multiplier, and Fire Rate. However, it has reduced damage and Zoom, and the main beam has a maximum range of 20 meters.
  • Mode switching is not instantaneous and has an animation equal to the weapon's reload speed.
  • Incarnon Form is activated by filling the Incarnon Transmutation gauge that appears under the reticle by achieving headshots and then pressing the Alternate Fire button. 50 headshots will completely fill the gauge. A full gauge is not required to activate Incarnon Form.
    • Charges generate only on headshots, and not other weakspots, such as the backpacks of most MOA variants. Similarly, shooting weakspots generated by either Sonar130xWhite Sonar or Mod TT 20px Detect Vulnerability in places other than heads will have no effect either.
    • Headshots on corpses do not build charges.
    • Individual Multishot bullets can build charges.
  • Instead of drawing ammunition from its reserves, the Boar's Incarnon Form uses a separate "magazine" with each charge producing 3 rounds to a maximum of 150. Once all ammunition is expended, the Boar reverts to its normal form.
    • Incarnon Form's magazine is not affected by mods.
    • Incarnon Form is not affected by Ammo Efficiency (such as EnergizedMunitions130xWhite Energized Munitions).
    • Charges and Incarnon Form persists through all activities, such as holstering, bleedout, or being disarmed. However, charges and Incarnon Form are removed upon death.
  • Swapping to and from Incarnon Form will fully reload the normal form's magazine.

Evolution II[]

  • Unlock Challenge: Complete a solo mission with this weapon equipped.
  • Perk 1: Reified Bane:
    • Increase Damage by +10.
    • On Reload From Empty: Increase Damage by +10.
      • The damage bonus is applied after finishing a reload while the magazine is empty, and lasts indefinitely until a manual reload is initiated while the magazine is not empty. Refilling the magazine through other means (such as with Mod TT 20px Blood For Ammo) will not remove the bonus.
  • Perk 2: Fortress Salvo:
    • Increase Damage by +16.
    • With Armor Over 450: +4 Punch Through

Evolution III[]

  • Unlock Challenge: Kill 100 enemies with this weapon's Incarnon Form.
  • Perk 1: Ready Retaliation:
    • On Reload From Empty: +100% Reload Speed.
      • As the reload speed bonus is only applied at the end of the first reload from empty, the bonus will not apply to the first reload, only subsequent ones.
  • Perk 2: Mercenary Chamber:
    • Increase ammo capacity to 195.
  • Perk 3: Practiced Grip:
    • Increase Accuracy by +50%.

Evolution IV[]

  • Unlock Challenge: Kill 30 enemies without reloading.
  • Perk 1: Elemental Balance:
    • Increase Status Chance by +12%.
      • Incarnon Form Status Chance increase is affected by base pellet count. Increase Incarnon Form Status Chance by +96% .
  • Perk 2: Critical Parallel:
    • Increase Critical Chance by +20%.
    • Increase Critical Damage Multiplier by +0.5x.
  • Perk 3: Survivor's Edge:
    • Increase Critical Chance by +10%.
    • Increase Status Chance by +6%.

Tips[]

  • The Boar suffers from ammunition inefficiency. The amount of ammunition supplied by a shotgun ammo pickup is double its base magazine size at 40 rounds, which can be emptied quickly if one fires the weapon indiscriminately.
  • It is suggested to use a long range sidearm such as the Lex Lex or Aksomati Aksomati due to the fact that the Boar has poor long range capabilities. Or one can simply close the distance between enemies to allow the Boar to continue being effective
  • Using the Mod TT 20px Shotgun Ammo Mutation mod can help regain ammo when needed or use Carrier's Ammo Case.
  • Due to a higher DmgSlashSmall64 Slash damage ratio compared to the Boar Prime, the Boar can utilize Mod TT 20px Sweeping Serration and allow Slash to become the highest damage, allowing it to cut corpses into pieces easier.

Trivia[]

  • This weapon was removed from the market since Update 10.3 (2013-10-09). Between then and Update 17.7 (2015-10-14) the only way to obtain the Boar was to purchase the Wrecking Rhino Pack bundle for Platinum64 545.
  • The Boar resembles a riot shotgun in practice, using the same model as the Strun Strun shotgun for the barrel and stock, but with what can be assumed to be a larger in-line drum magazine in the center.
    • Despite the magazine being fully removable in the updated reload animation after Update 17.7, the magazine still clips through the shooter's hand since it has no unique firing position.
    • The Boar appears to have a turret magazine, as seen in the Turret gun. The experimental design had a cylinder with radial, outward facing chambers, and was quickly deemed too dangerous, since at least one chamber pointed towards the user.
  • The word Boar is used to define an undomesticated pig. Much to its description, its appearance reveals a large barrel up front, noting its snout.
  • During Syndicate Missions, alongside the SanctiCastanas Sancti Castanas the New Loka Operatives will use the Boar, being the only NPC to use this weapon.
  • On the model of the Boar are the words, "Danger" written on the Stock and "Evolution" written on the Drum. These are numerous examples of the Orokin Language or "Tennobet" used on Tenno weapons.

Patch History[]

Update 32.0 (2022-09-07)

Ammo Changes

We understand the power fantasy of these weapons is very popular for some, so our first approach was to keep them powerful, but limit how often they can be used by making changes to ammo pick-up.

Ammo Pickup Overrides
The following weapons now have ammo pickup overrides, meaning they gain less from picking up ammo. This mostly applies to AoE weapons, in hopes that players will become more deliberate with their aim to make the most of their Ammo pools. The following lists the specific ammo pick up overrides per weapon category.

Primary Weapon Ammo Pick Up Overrides

40 Ammo per Pick Up:

  • Boar

Update 29.5 (2020-11-19)

  • Fixed Boar reload animation to prevent clipping into the side of the gun.

Hotfix 29.1.2 (2020-09-22)

  • Fixed the Boar not having a reload sound.

Update 27.2 (2020-03-05)

Greater than 100% Status having meaning:

Shotguns have a unique Role here based on a very patch-work history with how they interact with Status Chance. A Shotgun that shoots 99% Status Chance would give you 35% (roughly) status per pellet. 100% Status Gives you 100% Status per pellet. This huge jump in performance happens with just a 1% gain - why? Well, to answer that we have to look at our choice to make what the UI conveys reality. It would feel broken to shoot a Shotgun with 100% Status and not see a perfect spread of Effects. In reality, to make Status consistent we have to treat Shotguns as a special case.

Shotguns as a special case means we have buffed the Status Chance of all Shotguns by x3 or greater. The UI now behaves to show the reality that you are determining Status Chance per pellet.

  • (Undocumented) Status chance per projectile increased from 2.5% to 7.5%.

Hotfix 18.4.7 (2016-02-04)

  • Increased the damage of the Boar series in Conclave.
  • Increased the ammo pool of the Boar series in Conclave.

Update 16.4 (2015-04-23)

  • Increased the damage of all Boar weapons in PvP.

Update 10.3 (2013-10-09)

  • Removed from the market.

Update 7.11 (2013-05-17)

  • Removed option to buy with platinum in Market.

Update 7.10 (2013-05-03)

  • Fixed Boar sounds that were not consistent between what the user hears and what the other players hear.
  • All Shotguns get a boost, effective range increased.

Update 7.7 (2013-04-03)
