Charge attacks from this scythe unleash a wave of acid that mutilates enemies and leaves a trail of corrosive sludge.

The Caustacyst is an Infestation w Infested scythe that deals DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive damage, and its heavy attacks create a trail of sludge that damages and staggers enemies who walk into it.

Characteristics[]

  • This weapon deals DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive damage.
  • Heavy attacks throws a 5m wide DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive wave of up to 30 meters in the direction of the player's aim. The wave leaves a temporary trail on the ground, damaging and staggering enemies standing in it.
  • Zenurik Pol stance polarity matches Mod TT 20px Stalking Fan.
  • Innate Madurai Pol polarity.

Melee Attack Explanations
  • A "sweep attack" is an arcing melee strike that intends to hit an enemy with the edge of the blade (the length of obround melee hitbox).
  • A "thrust attack" is a melee strike that intends to hit an enemy with the tip of the blade (the rounded edge of obround melee hitbox).
  • A "360/spin attack" is a sliding sweep attack that hits targets around the player (not always in a 360° arc, but is usually above 180°).
  • A "direct slam attack" is a melee strike that hits a single target at the epicenter of a slam attack.
  • A "radial slam attack" is the area-of-effect component of the melee slam attack. Affected by the Seismic Wave mod.
  • A "ranged attack" is any melee attack that launches a ranged projectile or can hit targets beyond melee range.

  • Average Damage Multiplier per second only applies to single-target DPS calculations.
  • Note that hits marked as "Radial Slam Attack" will not apply at the epicenter of a single target hit so these will not be accounted for in Avg Dmg Multi/s calculations.
  • Combo animation lengths are approximate and are only accurate within a few tenths of a second.
  • Each tile marking in stance preview gifs are 2m apart.
  • Combos labeled with an asterisk (*) are shared between weapons within the same weapon type.

Notes[]

  • When performing a heavy attack, the Caustacyst throws a toxic wave in the direction of the player's aim. This wave will travel up to 35 meters, dealing DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive damage to all enemies it hits. The wave will also leave behind a temporary 4 second 20x2m trail of DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive pools on the ground that deal 5 DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive damage every second to enemies that stand on it.
    • Wave has base damage of ~192 DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive.
    • Wave has Damage Falloff, reducing its damage by 100% at the end of wave.
    • Wave range is not affected by Mod TT 20px Reach or Mod TT 20px Primed Reach.
    • Wave has infinite Punch Through.
    • Corrosive pools will deal damage the moment it contacts the enemy, so enemies may be dealt up to 25 DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive damage at base.
    • The wave inherits any elemental damage from mods and can proc their status effects, having an approximated 10% base status chance.
  • Enemies hit by the wave are also staggered, making them vulnerable to melee finishers (default E ) and susceptible to stealth damage multipliers.
    • Enemies stunned by these pools do not have their alert status changed; enemies can be damaged by the pools and still be killed for stealth kills as long as their stun animation is still playing.
    • This allows players to launch a pool, then launch up to 3 more charge attacks before the enemy can become alerted.

Tips[]

  • The Caustacyst is an excellent weapon against the Grineer, allowing for DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive and DmgViralSmall64 Viral to be used at the same time, as well as additional DmgFireSmall64 Heat to attack their health or DmgElectricitySmall64 Electricity for extra stunning capabilities.
    • Alternatively, it can be paired with DmgRadiationSmall64 Radiation for bonus damage against Alloy Armor, pairing with DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive's innate armor-peeling to allow for more general use against Grineer enemies.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first melee weapon with innate DmgCorrosiveSmall64 Corrosive damage.

  • Damage increased from 75 Corrosive to 260 (17 Impact, 71 Puncture, 69 Slash, and 103 Corrosive).
  • Range increased from 1 to 2.9.

  • Fixed the Caustacyst’s Corrosive acid projectiles not pausing in Limbo’s Stasis. 
  • Fixed the Caustacyst’s Corrosive acid projectiles from Mirage’s Hall of Mirror clones not being inside Limbo’s Rift when cast and not being affected by the Rift Stasis mechanic.

  • Potential fix for the Caustacyst causing game hitches.
  • Fixed (for real this time) attaining free health by channeling as enemies pass through the Caustacyst goo with Life Strike equipped. Also fixes similar issue with the Zenistar’s charge disc.
