Due to a large amount of confusion, I feel the need to link this page: Enemy Body Parts. It is a completely different part of damage from Damage Type multipliers.
Every enemy in the game has a couple of lists of damage types and different things that they do to them. The things that happen to these damage types happen to the incoming damage of this type alone and do not apply to any other damage types that may be included in the same attack.
Unprotected Damage Types
Each enemy type has a specific list of unprotected damage types. These damage types do not take armor into account when damage calculations are done. There are currently only four types of damage that appear in this list for regular units (bosses excluded):
- Armor Piercing (e.g.: Snipetron, Despair, Piercing Hit)
- Physics Impact (e.g.: Boltor, Kunai, Paris)
- Poison (e.g.: Torid, Acrid, Mire)
- Serrated Blade (e.g.: Most, but not all, melee charge attacks, and a growing list of ranged weapons).
These four damage types show up on the unprotected damage type list for almost all enemies that have Protected Body Parts. The only exceptions are Grineer Commanders, Seekers, and Rollers; Physics Impact is not in their lists, and does not 'ignore' their armor.
Damage Type Multipliers
The other damage type related list that enemies have is the damage type specific multipliers. Each entry in list include the damage type, body part affected, and the flat multiplier to this damage type. In general, damage types will be multiplied the same across the entire body, but in some cases, such as the Corpus Crewman, the multiplier only takes effect when damage is dealt to a specific body part.
