Trivia

  • It costs less platinum to purchase the Warframe outright than to rush construction of the components and frame.
  • He was the first Warframe with an unpolarized aura slot; Nekros was the second.
  • Excalibur is similar in design to Hayden Tenno's suit from Digital Extremes' previous game Dark Sector. This is further reinforced with the Proto-Armor Skin, which is a near-exact copy of that very suit.
  • Excalibur is named after the legendary sword of Arthur; King of the Britons
  • An Excalibur is shown being ripped apart by Alad V while wearing the Pendragon Helmet and the Immortal Skin in "The Profit", a trailer for the PS4 release of warframe.
  • Prior to Update 14, Excalibur would use his equipped melee weapon when casting his abilities, regardless if it was impractical (Casting Radial Javelin with a Galatine), nonsensical (Slash Dashing with the Kogake) or impossible (Using any of his abilities without a melee weapon equipped). Update 14 changed this by making him generate an ethereal Skana when using his abilities, rather than using his melee weapon.
  • According to the official Tenno Alphabet cipher, the design on Excalibur's right shoulder is in fact a word that spells out "Hayden Tenno". The same word can be found on top of Excalibur's head.

Excalibur Prime is the epitome of mobility and offense, and features the same abilities as Excalibur, but has unique mod polarities installed allowing for greater customization.

–In-game Description

Excalibur Prime features an additional V polarity slot, as well as a V Aura slot, rather than a slot without a polarity, but is otherwise identical to the Excalibur. Excalibur Prime is a founders-exclusive Warframe.

Acquisition

This Warframe is no longer available, and will not be available again due to it being exclusive to certain Founder packs. The Excalibur Prime Warframe was only obtainable by upgrading a Warframe account to Founders status of Hunter or greater, which is no longer available. The Warframe came with its own warframe slot and was already augmented with an Orokin Reactor.

The Founders' program closed on the 1st of November, 2013, as announced on the warframe forums. This closure is inclusive of pack upgrades.

Trivia

  • Excalibur Prime is the first Prime warframe in game.
  • Excalibur Prime is also the first Prime warframe to come with two different polarities, as opposed to one. This was followed by Loki Prime.
  • There is a statue of Excalibur Prime inside the Orokin Derelict vaults.
    • Interestingly, at the start of Update 11 Excalibur Prime was given a short-lived full body skin called "Alabaster", which was explained by Digital Extremes as a test skin that was released by mistake. The skin's texture was similar to said Vault statues.
  • Compared to the later Prime warframes, Excalibur Prime has the least cosmetic difference compared to his standard counterpart, with the only significant addition being the Void Key-shaped emblem on his helmet.
  • When he was released, it was widely believed that Excalibur Prime had a slightly faster shield recharge rate compared to the non-prime variant. 
  • Much like how Update 14 gave the standard Excalibur an ethereal Skana when using his abilities, Excalibur Prime uses an ethereal Skana Prime with his abilities, which was also added in the same update.

  • Excalibur cuts through his enemies, increasing his speed to 30 / 32 / 34 / 38 meters per second over a duration of 0.55 seconds. All targets within 1.5 / 1.6 / 1.8 / 2 meters of Excalibur take 150 / 225 / 400 / 500 Slash b Slash damage.
    • Damage is affected by Power Strength.
    • Damage has a low status chance. The Bleed DoT inflicts 35% of the initial damage per tick for a total of 7 ticks over 6 seconds. The Bleed damage bypasses armor and shields.
    • Speed is affected by Power Duration, while duration is not.
    • Striking radius is affected by Power Range.
    • Excalibur's health is immune to damage while dashing.
  • Can be used to pass through Laser Barriers unharmed in most cases.
  • Can be used while jumping, sliding, forward flipping, wall running or clinging to a wall.

    • Excalibur raises his weapon and channels energy into it, releasing an intense flash of light that affects all enemies within 8 / 12 / 15 / 25 meters and blinds them for 7 / 10 / 12 / 15 seconds.
      • Blind duration is affected by Power Duration.
      • Radius is affected by Power Range.
      • Affected enemies are initially stunned and have smoke pouring out of their head or similar body part for the duration.
      • Radial Blind does not affect enemies behind obstacles in the environment unless Excalibur has line of sight, or unless the enemy is aware of Excalibur within a short period of time (e.g., an enemy that spots Excalibur and runs out of view is still susceptible to Radial Blind if the ability is used within a small time frame).
      • Stealth Damage Multipliers are applied to the first melee attack on blinded enemies. Coming into physical contact with the enemy while attacking will remove the damage bonus.
    • Blind melee units will run to the source of audible gunfire and/or footsteps. Certain melee units, such as Guardsmen and Ancients, may attack Excalibur's last known location.
    • Blind ranged units will stand still or run for cover, and may occasionally throw a grenade towards Excalibur after the initial stun. Certain ranged units, such as Fusion MOAs, may also fire upon Excalibur's last known location. In most cases, ranged units will not use close-range crowd control abilities or melee.
    • Security cameras will deactivate their laser barriers for the duration.
    • Can be used while jumping, sliding, forward flipping, wall running or clinging to a wall.
    • Has a cast time of 1 second and a reuse delay of 5 seconds, all of which are affected by Natural Talent.
    • Conclave rating: 20 / 20 / 50 / 80.

  • Use this ability in combination with Silence in order to completely incapacitate all affected units.

    Super Jump

    • Excalibur becomes invisible as he launches into the air. Enemies on the ground within 1.5 / 1.75 / 2 / 2.25 meters of Excalibur's launch point are briefly stunned, and Excalibur reaches a height of 3 / 5 / 6 / 7 meters.
      • Jump height is affected by Power Strength.
      • Stun radius is affected by Power Range.
      • Invisibility will end when Excalibur lands on a solid surface or wall‑runs during the jump. As such, it's possible to extend the invisibility duration by using Slash Dash or directional air‑melee attacks to stay in the air for a longer period of time.
      • While invisible, Stealth Damage Multipliers are applied to directional air‑melee attacks. Jump/slam attacks are not affected by stealth damage multipliers since the invisibility wears off before the attacks can land.
    • Can be used while firing or reloading without interruption, but other abilities incur a delay of 1 second (coinciding with the apex of the jump) before they can be used.
    • Can be used while sprinting or wall‑running but not while in the air or jumping.
      • Wall‑running requires you to hold both the "Move Forward" and "Jump" key. If you release any of these 2 keys before casting Super Jump, Super Jump will not be cast.
      • If you continue to hold the "Jump" key after casting Super Jump, you will still be wall running instead of jumping away from the wall with your Super Jump. Release the "Jump" key after casting Super Jump while wall‑running to jump away from wall with your Super Jump.
    • Conclave rating: 5.

  • You can cast this ability without interrupting your firing or reloading.
    • Start reloading and then super jump can give you enough time to reload your weapon while taking less enemy fire.
  • When this ability is at max rank it can jump high enough to activate a max rank Heavy Impact if you activate a melee strike at the apex (thus causing additional downward velocity).
    • At the maximized jump height of 17 meters this step is not required since you are more than high enough to activate the mod without needing any additional speed. This allows for the tactic of freely shooting while jumping and doing large AoE damage on each landing. The downside is the requirement of a room with a very high or non-existent ceiling.
  • Using this ability before using Radial Javelin is recommended as it allows Excalibur to launch the javelins accurately at every target without the projectiles hitting obstacles or being out of line-of-sight.
  • Using this ability while having a maxed rank Aviator mod lets you take less damage (20% less) while airborne.

    Radial Javelin
    Launches javelins towards enemies, dealing high damage and impaling them to walls.

    • Excalibur summons a javelin near each enemy within a radius of 15 / 18 / 22 / 25 meters. Excalibur drives his weapon into the ground, launching the javelins into their targets. Each javelin inflicts 1000 damage.
      • Damage is distributed evenly between Impact b Impact, Puncture b Puncture and Slash b Slash.
      • Damage of each javelin is affected by Power Strength.
      • Enemies that survive the damage are temporarily stunned.
      • Radius is affected by Power Range.
      • While javelins do not punch through objects or enemies, their striking position is optimized to ensure a successful hit on their targets when they spawn. This allows the javelins to bypass obstacles in the environment, including walls, cover, and Grineer Shield Lancer shields.
    • Each javelin appears as an ethereal Skana. Excalibur Prime's javelins appear as ethereal Skana Primes.
    • Has a cast time of ~1 second and a post-cast animation delay of ~2.5 seconds.
    • Conclave rating: 50 / 50 / 75 / 100.

  • A Mag which activates Bullet Attractor on an enemy could pre U15 provide an extremely potent combo with this ability if Excalibur then activates this skill while standing next to the target. All javelins would then be immediately attracted into the enemy, dealing massive damage.

    Excalibur is the first of three initial Warframes to chose in the game, along with Mag and Volt. He derives with balanced statistics that are great for beginners who are looking for their corresponding roles.

    Mixed with offensive, defensive and supportive abilities, Excalibur can perform impressively for his own survival, unlike those who specialize in certain roles: With abilities like Slash Dash and Super Jump, Excalibur possesses a fair amount of mobility, allowing him hurdle certain map sections that only a few Warframes are capable of. Radial Blind is a supportive skill that stuns a wide group of enemies around Excalibur allowing him and/or his teammates ample time to finish them off. Slash Dash and Radial Javelin are his offensive skills and they provide Excalibur a decent level of damage that synergizes well with the other frames, such as Mag, granting this Warframe a very versatile purpose.

    Slash Dash

    • This ability can be used in the air or jumping.

    Radial Blind

    • This ability can disable large groups of enemies surrounding Excalibur.
    • This ability can be used on some bosses to prevent them from using their abilities.

    Super Jump

    • A maxed out super jump can be used as a method of activating the seismic shock effects of heavy impact, though it is best to use a melee jump attack as you reach max altitude to make sure you have enough speed to trigger it.

    Radial Javelin

    • When paired with a Mag using Bullet Attractor, Radial Javelin can be used to deal massive damage to one enemy.
    • This can be further increased using Banshee's Sonar. Able to defeat low level bosses with a single cast.
