Vicious Spread is a Corrupted Mod which increases the damage but decreases the accuracy of shotguns by +15% and -10% per rank to a maximum of +90% and -60% at Rank 5, respectively.

Notes[]

  • This is a Corrupted Mod, obtainable from Orokin Vaults in the Orokin Derelict.
  • This mod combined with Mod TT 20px Point Blank and Mod TT 20px Blaze give off a total damage increase of +240%.
    • With Mod TT 20px Primed Point Blank instead of Point Blank this adds up for a total damage increase of +315%.
  • In terms of crowd control, equipping this Mod with Mod TT 20px Hell's Chamber gives off impressive results, damaging a wide spread of enemies in every shot more effectively than shooting one target at a time.
  • The following weapons are unaffected or barely affected by the increased spread:
  • Unlike Mod TT 20px Heavy Caliber, the rifle equivalent of this mod, spread can be reduced by the Mod TT 20px Tainted Shell mod – though with a very high fire rate penalty, as cancelling out the spread increase from a maxed Vicious Spread would require a fire-rate reduction of at least 54%. This loss could be compensated for using a maxed-out Mod TT 20px Accelerated Blast or Rank 3 (or higher) Mod TT 20px Shotgun Barrage.
    • Alternatively, Mod TT 20px Narrow Barrel can reduce the accuracy penalty by half after hitting an enemy.
    • Convectrix Convectrix and Phage Phage are partially immune to spread penalty in their focused modes.
    • Drakgoon Drakgoon similarly remains highly accurate once charged.

Tips[]

  • As Vicious Spread affects the angle of a shotgun's conical spread, players can compensate by simply closing in and firing the weapon at almost point blank range to ensure all shots hit the target.
    • As the mod only affects the angle of spread of individual pellets, it does not heavily affect the long range accuracy of shotguns that fire individual slugs instead of a spread of pellets, such as the ArcaPlasmor Arca Plasmor and the Astilla Astilla.
  • Not recommended to be combined with Mod TT 20px Galvanized Acceleration, as the spread will be bigger at the bonus effective range and thus will cause more shots to miss enemies at long range, unless combined with Punch Through mods if the intention is to make the shotgun good at large crowd control.
  • As with the Ignis Ignis (IgnisWraith Wraith) and the Heavy Caliber mod, held-trigger shotguns such asPhantasma Phantasma (PhantasmaPrime Prime) also benefit quite well from this mod.
