Nekros uses his dark powers to manipulate his enemies, both living and dead.

Nekros is a Warframe with powers likened to that of necromancers and dark arts practitioners, released in Update 10. His abilities exploit the vulnerabilities of the living and the corpses of the dead.

Component blueprints are rewarded at the end of Orokin Derelict Assassination missions.

TriviaEdit

  • Nekros is one of the most expensive warframes to build; not only does his blueprint cost Credits64 ‍100,000, he is one of four frames that require three Orokin Cells instead of just one (the others being MirageMag Prime and Rhino Prime).
  • Nekros is the only Warframe with a base shield stat of 90.
    • Equipping a maxed out Redirection mod on a fully ranked Nekros will boost his shields to 666.
  • Nekros is one of the two Warframes whose unique animations does not hold a bow with both hands (the other warframe is Hydroid). He holds the bow with its arrow only in his left hand. With his agile animation, he will grab the arrow and twirl it around.
  • Nekros' Noble animation set has an almost identical idle animation for all weapons excluding throwing weapons - he simply looks left and right calmly. With throwing weapons, he will twirl and spin one on his right hand. This animation is also used by the Agile set.
  • Nekros' unarmed idle animation is identical on both sets - he will perform Shadows of the Dead. Also occurs while holding a one-handed secondary weapon. These repetitive animations could simply be placeholders, and could be updated in the future.
  • Nekros is the first Warframe whose alternate helmets are purely cosmetic.
  • Nekros' legs, hands, and feet are far more slender than any other Warframes, a trait shared with Oberon. He also appears to have only four toes, and an extra finger-like wrist spine next to his little finger on each hand.
    • Also, both Nekros and Oberon also seem to have wider torsos than other Warframes, at least in a limbs to torso ratio.
  • His name is most likely derived from the Greek word "νεκρό" (nekro = dead).

  • Nekros lunges with telekinetic force, dealing 100 / 200 / 350 / 500 Impact b Impact damage to a single target within 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 meters. The initial target is ragdolled.
  • A projectile is spawned when the initial target is hit. Enemies that make contact with the projectile are dealt 50 Impact b Impact damage. When the projectile makes contact with a hard surface, 100 Impact b Impact damage is inflicted in an AoE, ragdolling affected enemies.
    • Projectile and AoE damage are not affected by Power Strength, and can score headshots.
  • Despite having noticeable visual and audio effect, the skill is perfectly silent and can be used as a mean of disposing enemies without alerting nearby units during stealth playthrough.

  • Under right circumstances it's possible to exploit physics system to launch ragdolls up with great speed, which will result with dealing additional fall damage to alive enemies. (Usually when enemies are grouped tightly together or there is an object right behind the enemy).
  • Best effectiveness can be achieved by standing higher than the target.Optimal height difference is when projectile can hit the ground near the target. Using this method will usually send surrounding enemies flying, dealing additional fall damage.

  • Releases a psychic blast which causes up to 5 / 7 / 8 / 12 enemies within 5 / 10 / 15 / 20 meters to enter a state of panic for 9 / 15 / 20 / 25 seconds. While panicked, enemies will not attack and will haphazardly flee, exposing themselves and reducing their armor by 5% / 10% / 15% / 20%.
  • Number of enemies affected and amount of armor reduction is increased by Power Strength.
  • Armor reduction will add to Corrosive Projection, however a current bug in the game will cause enemies to become nearly immune to damage if total armor reduction exceeds 100%.
  • Toxic Ancients still deal poison damage and Infested Runners still explode if they get near you.
  • Cannot be recast whilst active.
  • Bosses are unaffected by this ability.
  • Grants minor Conclave rating of 1 at all levels.

  • Can be used to scare enemies off when the Cryopod is hoarded by enemies or used when you need to revive teammates stranded in a horde.

  • Grants a 30% / 40% / 50% / 60% chance at getting a health orb. If successful, then there is a 75% / 80% / 85% / 90% chance to roll the enemy's drop table again.
    • These percentages are not affected by Power Strength.
    • This includes mods, resources, ammo, energy orbs, Oberon blueprints, Beacons, and Life Support (in Survival mission).
  • Sometimes corpses drop nothing at all because the enemy's loot table includes a chance to drop nothing, or due to lag where the corpse has already disappeared for the host.
  • Successfully desecrated corpses will glow with the chosen energy color and turn into smoke that fades away; whereas unsuccessfully desecrated corpses will show sparkles above them.
  • Without a physical corpse on the floor in the powers range, the ability will not be cast, use no energy and will state "invalid target".
    • Affects enemies being vaporized as long as the skill is cast before they fully disappear.
    • Affects enemies vaporized by Nova's Molecular Prime even after the corpses have disappeared. When the ability is cast, the corpses appear and disappear quickly.
    • It can be difficult to find corpses consistently when playing with well equipped players as many corpses vaporize as a result of various elemental and ability effects.
    • Enemies that explode on death, such as any Corpus Osprey (or a Volatile Runner exploding if not killed quickly), are not affected by desecrate, as they have no corpses.
  • Works on shadow version corpses from Shadows Of The Dead, but they will only yield health orbs because they have no normal drop table.
  • Can be cast on the same corpse multiple times, but if it yields loot, the corpse will disintegrate.
  • Bodies that are cut in half by Slash Damage are treated as two distinct corpses, each with its own chance to yield additional loot.
  • Most useful in Survival missions, due to large amount of enemies and the need for constant movement.
  • Can be used on dead faction allies in Invasion yielding drops from its normal drop table.
  • Can be used on the corpses of The Grustrag Three currently as of Update 12.
  • Can be used on Eximus enemy corpses as well, providing another chance to drop Oberon part blueprints.
  • Grants minor Conclave rating of 1 at all levels.
  • Can be used on Captain Vor (Corrupted)'s corpse but he has a chance of leaving his dead body on the ground.

  • Casting desecrate multiple times is suggested for desecrating a group of corpses, since the success rate is not 100%.
  • Cast desecrate whenever possible to detect and desecrate corpses that cannot be seen but have not fully disappeared.
  • When you are low on energy for spamming desecrate, look at the sparkles on unsuccessfully desecrated corpses to see how many corpses are left available to be desecrated.
  • Because of the long casting time this ability greatly benefits from Natural Talent.
  • Below are the time spans needed for a corpse to completely disintegrate. Use these for reference:
    • Grineer and Corpus' corpses will disintegrate in 15 seconds.
    • Infested corpes will disintegrate in 5 seconds.
    • Corpses from enemies affected with Molecular Prime will disintegrate in 3 seconds.
  • Use this ability with Equilibrium if you can - every health orb spawned will also recover energy, allowing this ability to easily recharge your energy bar. This allows you to cast other abilities while easily spamming Desecrate.
  • Consider forgoing shield power. In order to collect a health orb you must have less than your maximum health, so when using Equilibrium it is beneficial to take a controlled amount of damage in order to get the maximum benefit from health orbs (also consider using Rage to recover energy while taking damage). If your Shields rarely drop to zero you will not take damage and will be unable to collect any health orbs, potentially leaving you in situations where you have no Energy for skills, are surrounded by health orbs, yet are unable to collect them in order to replenish your energy reserves.
    • You can use self damaging weapons such as Penta or Ogris to allow you to get the health orbs for this mod. This may potentially backfire if your Penta or Ogris kills you.
    • It is possible to sacrifice your secondary slot to equip a set of unmodded Castanas. Since they have relatively low base damage, the risk of killing yourself with them is largely reduced in comparison to other explosive weapons.

Summons shadow versions of vanquished enemies to fight alongside you for a short period of time.

  • Summons 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 shadow copies of the enemies you have most recently slain. These copies appear randomly within a 10 meter radius of your character and then fight for you until they die or 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 seconds elapse.
    • Number of shadow copies is affected by Power Strength, but the level/stats of copies are not affected by it.
    • Radius at which copies appear is not affected by Power Range.
    • Shadow copies are taken from the last 20 enemies you have gotten killing blows on; teammate, sentinel, and your shadows' kills do not count. Once a specific enemy has been copied it is removed from your "recently-killed" list. The game does not remember any kills past your 20th.
      • For example, if you kill 30 enemies and cast this ability four times without killing any more enemies you will create 7, 7, 6, and 0 copies.
  • Shadow copies are identical to their original selves and their level/stats are not altered in any way. Ranged units, however, utilize stripped-down path-finding as they will often fire uselessly at walls/ceilings if enemies are behind them instead of seeking them out or waiting.
  • Shadow versions are black, and have a mist effect that is colored with your energy color.
    • A pure black energy color will remove the mist effect and leave simply blackened forms.
  • Kills by a player's shadow versions grant that player 50% of the kill experience to their warframe.
  • Has a very long cast animation, during which shadow copies usually will not attack. You are not immune to knockdown and take full damage during this time.
  • Does not properly produce shadow copies when standing on boxes or crates, as the ability will spawn shadows at your current height in the casting range. If there are no surfaces around where you are standing that are close to the height you are at, very little or no shadows will spawn, but it would use energy and waste 'souls'.
  • Does not work on bosses, Desert Skates, or Latchers, with one exception: Zanuka can be revived as a Phantom if the Nekros is the one to kill it. Eximus enemies also cannot be spawned, they will only spawn their normal variant.
  • Cannot be recast while active.
  • Grants minor Conclave rating of 1 at all levels.

  • Shadow versions attract attention from enemies, they are effective at defending objectives or areas of a map.
  • Actively target and focus your attacks on enemies you want to clone prior to casting the ability.
  • Roller will often roll around aimlessly and get stuck, do not use these as your shadows.
  • Shadow Shield Ospreys will shield all of your shadows and your team, granting additional Shield when connected (as of Update 10.3), depending on the level of the enemy (appears to grant 50, 100, and 200 additional Shield). This buff is not increased by multiple Ospreys and you must be less than 10 meters from a Shield Osprey for it to connect. They will still follow Corpus however and do not follow teammates. They will provide shield bonuses to Defense objectives as well.
    • Can be used as a temporary survival measure in Survival when the oxygen runs out, as disconnecting/connecting to osprey will instantly regenerate your shield and apply the bonus. It will not stop the draining of shield but can be used as a temporary measure to stay alive, such as waiting in extraction where you are very vulnerable to attacks.
  • Shadow Toxic Ancients' poison will damage enemies but not your team, and Shadow Ancient Healers will heal other shadows, you and your teammates, and defense objectives.
  • Being struck by a shadowed Ancient Healer's healing ability while downed will instantly revive you.
  • In Void Defense it is recommended to spawn the shadows in the center zone with the cryo pods so that the AI will take cover and increase their survivability.

  • After reviving yourself or changing host, your list of recently killed enemies is cleared, requiring you to kill more enemies before using the ability. (this may be unavoidable).
  • Grineer Hellions will have their jetpacks launched after death, and will cause damage to you. (is this still happening as of update 13.x?)
  • (PC) Falling into a endless pit (or anywhere that causes the game to teleport you back where you were) will completely kill all of Nekros's shadows regardless of how much time they have left to exist.

  • Nekros was temporarily called Necro during development. The name Nekros was revealed with Update 10.
  • Nekros' concept art originally showed tendrils hanging from his head and sholders. When Update 10 was released the tedrils were removed, but made optional as a Nekros-only scarf. (Mortos Syandana)
  • Forma is highly advised to use on Nekros, on his Aura polarity, to gain more mod capacity that he otherwise wouldn't have.
