The Plasma Sword is a longsword exclusive to Alert Missions. It is effective against shields and has high critical chance, and a good chance to proc status effects, but loses effectiveness against armor quickly.

This weapon can be sold for Credits 32px 5,000.

Characteristics

Advantages:

  • Specializes in Electric damage, making it effective against shielded enemies. Electric is a versatile damage type, combining for Magnetic, Corrosive and Radiation.
  • Good chance to Proc, second highest chance of all melee weapons. 
  • Has a good base critical chance and good critical damage.
  • Decent range.
  • Once you find the blueprint, it's very easy to make (сrafted using easily obtainable resources).

Disadvantages:

  • Electric is not a strong damage type vs most Infested.
  • Once the enemy's shields are down, the Plasma Sword will lose effectiveness due to the lack of physical damage.
  • No polarities.
  • Low-end damage output with normal swings.
  • Can only hit single targets.
  • Slow jump attack animation, takes longer to slam down once you hit the ground.

Notes

  • Although typically useless against Infested due to dealing 50% less damage to Impact, Adding Heat or Blast damage can add extra elemental damage which can compensate for the lower damage. 
  • Due to a high charge damage of 120, a charge build will yield a high damage output, so aim toward maximum charge speed and damage.
  • Stealth attacks while invisible with Ash or Loki will deal even more charge damage, and can help to quickly level up the weapon.
  • Jump attack animation is slightly slower then normal, after hitting the ground it takes a moment for you to swing it down. However when it does, it can knock down a group of enemies in an average radius. 
  • Second highest proc chance of all melee weapons, and the Impact damage will proc most often, causing bonus staggering to enemies.
  • Has a good critical chance and good critical damage, can be worked toward crit-builds.
