The game as a whole is fun, but there is a heavy reliance on mods rather than the gear they are equipped to. Â If you get mods or parts that you don't think you will use, trading them is a good way to get the premium currency so you can have a range of weapons that allow you to find your playstyle. Â A frame that can also help you as you start is Rhino. Â Players give this frame a lot of hate because he is forgiving to use, and people often use him wrong late-game. Â He tanks a lot of damage and provides cc which will ease you into the game while you discover other builds, tactics or just general mechanics to make use of.
As for Ash I find him to be very effiective with the right builds. Â With his abilities, you can focus on one of two main builds: Smoke or Damage efficiency.
Smoke: Â Go for max duration and run it similar to a Loki stealth build. Â Ash is a bit tankier than Loki, so feel free to put yourself into situations where stray bullets or AOE might damage you but gives you a good position.
Damage efficiency: Â This is the build I run most of the time. Â Use Shuriken, Teleport and Blade storm. Â Max a Fleeting expertise to allow (mainly teleport) large use of his abilities without monitoring your energy. Â Intensify will add damage to Shuriken and Blade storm while a Stretch will increase the effective range of all three abilities. Â I then run with max vitality and vigor to futher his offensive capabilities.
Ash is very fun if you use him right, and is the only real attack ninja-esque warframe in the game.
If you decide to actually play into the late game (many do not) I recommend getting your hands on Zephyr.
Zephyr can be just as Tanky (if not more) than Rhino, but is VERY expensive to get for most players. Her terrific mobility and good cc make a good 'upgrade' from Rhino if cinfigured for that purpose.
Starfreak911 is right about mods being key. Junk guns with GREAT mods are good guns. NOTE!! that mod drop rates are totally uneffected by enemy lvl. look up a mod here on the wiki; find out who drops it... search and destroy.
Even a very low ranked player can have a lot of fun (and kick butt) with an easy to get Rhino + access to stellar mods.

Just adding that you need to be in a clan that has researched Zephyrs BP and parts to get her. Â
Also just adding that Loki with a radial disarm build is good. Â Lvl 100 enemies? Â What they gonna do without their ranged weapons?
