What misinformation? It works vs a variety of Grineer and Infested targets, and for any target the status proc of weakness which reduces damage output of affected target by 30% is useful. And for that matter, what are these other better, equally common mods?
Just to be clear:
The fact that such a thing is noted in the trivia section is not good to this wiki. Opinions are no facts.
That doesn't however make it misinformation, it can be seen as a good mod to some people or in some builds (full puncture build)
barton?
that would give it something around a 10% damage boost, also to the least-useful proc.
an unranked elemental mod would give more benefit than a maxed piercing hit. opinions about what mods are "Easy" for new players to get, and what they "Should use" should not be on main wiki pages unless there is no question about the validity and accuracy of the information, ie using hellfire vs thermite rounds.

Then basically what you are saying is that all info that relates to suggesting if an item has any advantageous aspect for a particular part of the game should be removed or reworded if it is presented in a way that is directing players to utilize said advantageous aspect because it is suggested as the "best" option for them. Thus, remove all form of opinion from the wiki pages over in-game information.
If this is what you are actually asking for, you may want to also argue without using opinions in your own statements.
i have yet to find that specific tip anywhere, but as i said. if you have a mod that isn't the best of its type (simply because another mod beats it) then using it is simply a matter of preference.
Piercing hit isn't as useful as it used to be since they added piercing caliber. Therefore using it as a tip isn't useful, saying that you can max out puncture damage by adding this mod to your build however is correct and factual. Piercing hit is a mod that you will only add if you are fighting corrupted and thus cannot install a faction based mod (because that one will out damage your piercing hit for sure, without sacrificing anything)
By now i should be aware that people enjoy arguing about semantics more than applying logic to the topic at hand.
Would YOU ever suggest someone intentionally seek out and use piercing hit, when it is mathematically (no opinions!) one of the three weakest weapon mods in the game?
At the point of acquirement its decent enough to help new people raise puncture for a higher proc, they may not have elements or anything else so would use this to essentially give a weapon a better handicap towards grineer. Later on say using Paris prime with 160 puncture adding piercing caliber (120%) with piercing hit (30%) Brings it to 400 puncture. Its only 48 points of damage but it does help. By the way calling it weak even with the use of the word mathematically is still an opinion, you are generalizing. No I'm not trying to argue or pick on you. Yes i would point out this mod but most people have it within an hour of playing the game anyway. All you have rifle mod wise is ammo drum bane of corpus, magazine warp and piercing hit? add piercing hit if going agaisnt grineer. You talk about people arguing semantics but you are complaining over a tip used to help rooks out.
