Research on Power Efficiency [currently being done] by Voqualin, NixonSoo, Zelklen, and some anonymous contributors, and documented by Voqualin. The cost progression tables have been moved here from Power Efficiency, to keep that page simple and to the point, while retaining a record of the testing that has been done here.

As of update 8.2 Streamline reduces ability costs by the percent value shown on the mod. Testing shows that alternate helmets also reduce ability costs linearly.

How to fill out a cost progression table row:

Use a max level Warframe and a max level Flow module, and make sure that you do not have Energy Siphon artifact equipped. Start a new mission, and collect energy until you reach your maximum amount of energy. Then continuously use the same ability, recording your displayed remaining energy after each time.  Post the entire progression series under Cost Progression, and use that to estimate the cost record that under Estimated Cost.

Results

Power Efficiency linearly affects the cost of Warframe abilities. Positive Power Efficiency indicates a reduction of ability cost while negative Power Efficiency indicates an increase in ability cost.

 Ability cost = (base_ability_cost) * (1 - power_efficiency)
  • Base_ability_cost: the default ability cost.
  • Power_Efficiency: the Power Efficiency of the mod (Streamline) or alternate helmet.

Streamline

Streamline reduces ability costs linearly based on the percentage shown on the mod card. The table below illustrates the effect of the different ranks of Streamline on different ability costs.

Alternate Helmets

Alternate helmets also reduce (or increase) ability costs linearly based on the percentage shown on the mod card. The following helmets affect Power Efficiency:

Stacking

Streamline and alternate helmets stack according to the below formulas:

 Ability cost = base_ability_cost * (1 - Streamline_% - helmet_%)
  • Base_ability_cost: the default ability cost.
  • Streamline_%: the Power Efficiency of Streamline
  • helmet_%: the Power Efficiency of the alternate helmet

In other words, Streamline and alternate helmets stack additively.*

(*Stacking with Meridian and Scorpion does not appear to follow this formula; this suggests stacking is different when you have a helmet that reduces Power Efficiency. Further testing and calculations are required. See Power Efficiency Research)

Energy Bar Rounding

The in-game energy bar display is rounded down. This results in the discrepancies in the apparent cost of abilities with Power Efficiency mods.
