Forged in the labs of the Zanuka project, the original Valkyr was subject to cruel experiments, leaving her scarred, angry and frighteningly adept at killing.

Release Date: November 20th, 2013

Valkyr is the berserker of Warframes and joined the Tenno cause in Update 11. Driven by feral rage, her attacks rend her prey with fury and ferociousness, while her tortured cries break the imposing silence of the Tenno presence.

Component blueprints drop from Alad V (Themisto, Jupiter).

ConclaveEdit

At rank 30 and supercharged, Valkyr will use 90 Conclave points without any mods.

TriviaEdit

  • "Valkyr" is derived from Valkyrie. According to Norse Mythology, the Valkyries were a host of divine creatures in service of the gods that brought the "chosen" among the fallen up to Asgard (where the gods resided). It was generally believed that dying in battle with your honor intact was a sure way of being chosen.
  • She is the second female Warframe whose base stats defy a trend of fragility; despite having low shields she has the highest armor value out of all the Warframes.
  • Both her Warframe Profile video and in-game description state that she's a product (or possibly a failure) of the Zanuka Project.
  • Valkyr is the only Warframe which has human-like audible cries, voiced by the Digital Extremes community coordinator, Megan.
  • Valkyr is the 2nd Warframe to replace Alloy Plates with Circuits when building. (The 1st was Saryn.)
  • Valkyr is the most bio-mechanical of the Tenno, possessing tubes and wires on certain parts of her frame, plus what appears to be Corpus bindings fixed onto her arms and legs. This is most likely due to her being experimented on with Corpus technology. This technology is also located where her powers originate, which opens the possibility that these are simply enhancements to the Tenno that Valkyr once was.
  • Valkyr is the newest and second Warframe that has been created within the current timeline of the game's history, with all the other frames either being recently discovered (like Oberon) or already existing, but all being made during the Great War. (with the exception of Nova who is said to be a recently developed Warframe under the Tenno Council)
  • In addition to the point above, Valkyr is the first Warframe that is not entirely of Tenno/Orokin origin, having Corpus tech installed (functional or not) in addition to her original Warframe.
  • Valkyr in many ways resembles and may be based off a feline or female wolverine, if only vaguely:
    • Hysteria gives Valkyr a set of claws.
    • An alternate helmet, Bastet, is named after an Egyptian Cat-headed Goddess of Home and Family.
    • Equipping a whip (Lecta or Scoliac) while using Hysteria gives the appearance of a tail, though it may possibly be just a bug.
  • Valkyr was the first Warframe to have more than 80 stamina, at 150. Hydroid later shared this stamina increase with his addition to the Warframe arsenal.

NotesEdit

  • Components are available from Alad V since November 25.
  • The melee bug affects Valkyr's ultimate, making you unable to attack.

Rip Line
Valkyr hurls forth a hook. If it hits an enemy, she pulls them to her. If it hits terrain, she pulls herself to the hook's location.
Strength:300 / 400 / 500 / 600
Duration:N/A
Range:25 / 40 / 60 / 75 m

  • Valkyr fires a grappling hook that covers a range of 25 / 40 / 60 / 75 meters. If the hook hits terrain, Valkyr will be pulled towards the hook's location. An enemy pierced by the hook will be dealt 300 / 400 / 500 / 600 Slash b Slash damage, and Valkyr will forcefully pull the enemy towards her location.
    • Damage is affected by Power Strength and is increased by body-part multipliers.
    • Range is affected by Power Range.
    • Rip Line is able to pull Valkyr across chasms and long gaps. However, Valkyr is not pulled the full distance to the hook's location. Increasing the range of this ability does not increase the pull strength on Valkyr.
  • Valkyr can perform a wall attack as she's being pulled.
  • Can be used to pull allies, which is sometimes useful as a teammate can be saved from a group of enemies.
  • Can mutilate enemies similarly to the Miter or the Glaive.
  • Scorpion uses a variant of Rip Line which can drag enemies but excludes the Slash proc on impact of the hook.
  • Conclave rating: 10 / 10 / 50 / 90.

  • This is another alternative ability for players to take advantage of heights quickly, similarly to Worm Hole, Super Jump and Teleport, pulling Valkyr to elevated areas which are not accessible with traditional movement.
  • This is also another alternative to take advantage with speed, allowing zip-lining on almost any location around a map.
  • It is possible to Rip Line onto a rocket fired from an Ogris.
  • Very effective during Capture missions because it can bring the target near Valkyr or her teammates.
  • Pressing the melee key (default: E) while being towed by the Rip line will make Valkyr use her melee weapon's wall attack. This method can be an effective way to make use of the Obex's and Kogake's 2,200 damage wall attack.
  • In Conclave, this ability is rated very highly, as it allows the user to either travel quickly around an arena or pull and knock down the enemy, rendering them an easy target.

Maximization is a form of specialization: mods may be blended to result in values that vary between the top-end limits listed here. Click any maximized link to learn how to build it.

  • Very rarely, when pulling an enemy with Rip line the "rope" will not pull the enemy towards you and do no damage to the enemy, The "rope" also gets stuck between you and the enemy until the enemy is killed.

Warcry
Valkyr lets out a rallying cry that bolsters her allies melee speed while slowing down nearby enemies.
Strength:15% / 20% / 25% / 50% (speed buff)
25% / 35% / 45% / 50% (armor buff)
15% / 20% / 25% / 30% (slow)
Duration:7 / 10 / 12 / 15 s
Range:15 / 20 / 22 / 25 m

  • Valkyr lets out a rallying cry, bolstering the attack speed and defenses of her allies while diminishing the attack speed and mobility of her enemies within 15 / 20 / 22 / 25 meters. Affected allies will gain 15% / 20% / 25% / 50% attack speed and 25% / 35% / 45% / 50% armor, and affected enemies will have their attack/movement speed reduced by 15% / 20% / 25% / 30%. The effects last for 7 / 10 / 12 / 15 seconds.
    • The bonuses and slow are affected by Power Strength.
    • The speed buff grants an additive bonus that will stack with other attack speed modifiers (e.g., Fury combined with Warcry at max rank and +30% power strength will increase Valkyr's attack speed by 0.3 + 0.5*1.3 = 95%).
    • The armor buff is based off the affected Warframe's base armor value (e.g., with 1260 armor from a maxed Steel Fiber and +30% power strength, Valkyr will have a total of 1260 + 600*0.5*1.3 = 1650 armor over the duration at max rank).
    • Duration is affected by Power Duration.
    • Radius is affected by Power Range.
  • The effects of Warcry are applied to Valkyr, Tenno, Companions, Hostages, Defense objectives, Shadows, and Specters.
  • Allies and enemies only need to be in range when Warcry is cast to be affected.
  • Conclave rating: 10 / 10 / 50 / 90.

  • By combining a fully ranked Warcry with a Sentinel with Coolant Leak, melee enemies (particularly the melee-focused Infested) will be severely slowed down.
  • Very useful in Defense missions, as enemies are slowed down and the Artifact's armor is greatly enhanced.

Paralysis
Valkyr unleashes her shields, stunning and damaging enemies around her.
Strength:2x / 2.5x / 3x / 3.5x (damage multiplier)
400 / 600 / 800 / 1000 (knockback strength)
Duration:N/A
Range:5 / 7 / 8 / 10 m

  • Valkyr discharges her shields, stunning and damaging enemies within 5 / 7 / 8 / 10 meters while draining 33% of her current shields. Affected enemies are dealt 50% of Valkyr's current shields multiplied by 200% / 250% / 300% / 350% as Impact b Impact damage. The shield discharge has a knockback strength of 400 / 600 / 800 / 1000.
    • Damage multiplier is affected by Power Strength, and the damage diminishes with distance.
    • Damage does not bypass obstacles in the environment and is increased by body-part multipliers.
    • The shield percentage used in the damage calculation accounts for Valkyr's shields at the time Paralysis is cast, not after the shield drain has been applied. As an example, Valkyr has 150 shields at the time Paralysis is cast and +30% power strength. Paralysis will deal 150*0.5*3.5*1.3 = 341.25 damage, and Valkyr's shields will be reduced to 150*(1 - 0.33) = 100 shields.
    • Radius is affected by Power Range.
    • Stunned enemies are vulnerable to Finisher attacks. If the enemy cannot be attacked with a Finisher (either due to positioning or the enemy type), it will be susceptible to Stealth Damage Multipliers from melee attacks for the duration of the stun. As with other stealth attacks, coming into physical contact with the enemy while attacking will temporarily remove the damage bonus.
  • Conclave rating: 10 / 10 / 50 / 90.

  • Shields drained this way will reset the shield recharge delay, as if Valkyr was hit.
  • Installing a decent Redirection and Fast Deflection mod helps by greatly improving the damage output as they are being utilized by this ability.
    • Redirection increases the damage through the lost in greater amount of shields.
    • Fast Deflection helps recover lost shields quickly.
  • Extended uses of this ability will recommend installations of Vitality and Steel Fiber mods in order to overcome damages after the Paralysis effects.
  • The way Paralysis treated is similar to Banshee's Sonic Boom dealing a blast with tremendous knockbacks, but doing a full 360 angle of damage with half of the original range.
  • Paralysis can be within the duration of Hysteria allowing Valkyr to expend her shields with no trouble receiving damage. This will still drain her shields in spite of her invulnerability.
  • This ability can be spammed due to its very low energy cost, this will heavily divide shields down to 0 if expended drastically, but it will give potential stunlocks to lesser enemies effectively.
  • This is the only 3rd ability, whose card is Uncommon, making it easier to upgrade.
  • This ability synergizes well with shield-based team totems such Team Shield Restore and Medium Team Shield Restore, as burst of shield recharges allow Valkyr to spam full loads of shield damage at a group of enemies more effectively.

Hysteria
Valkyr is imbued with energy and becomes a ball of vicious rage, capable of unleashing a torrent of deadly claw attacks on unsuspecting foes.
Strength:300 (base damage)
1.25x / 1.4x / 1.6x / 1.75x (damage multiplier)
1% / 2% / 4% / 5% (lifesteal)
Duration:15 / 20 / 25 / 30 s
Range:5 m

  • Overcome with rage, Valkyr unleashes her wrath using a set of energy claws and becomes immune to damage and Status Effects over a duration of 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 seconds. While Hysteria is active, the claws are the only weapons Valkyr can use. The claws grant Valkyr a unique set of melee combos, and 1% / 2% / 4% / 5% of the melee damage she inflicts is regained as health. Valkyr will also radiate energy should there be an enemy within 5 meters of her position. Enemies within this aura are highlighted; should any enemy remain highlighted as Hysteria expires, Valkyr will be dealt 7.5% of the total amount of damage she received while Hysteria was active.
    • Lifesteal is not affected by Power Strength.
    • Duration is affected by Power Duration
    • Aura radius is affected by Power Range.
    • Status effect immunity includes crowd-controlling effects such as Knockdowns and staggers. Certain attacks will push Valkyr away, and shockwaves will cause her to bounce into the air slightly. However, these attacks will not push Valkyr to the ground.
    • Valkyr is not immune to Eximus energy drains or the small energy drains from Ancient Disrupter attacks. However, Nauseous Crawler disables have no effect on her.
    • Highlighted enemies become unmarked if Valkyr moves out of range, negating the damage taken when Hysteria expires.
    • Valkyr's other abilities are usable while Hysteria is active.
  • The attack damage from Hysteria factors in a specific set of stats from the equipped melee weapon. Normal attacks, slide attacks, wall attacks, ground finishers, and prompted finishers deal 300 base damage + 125% / 140% / 160% / 175% of the equipped melee weapon's base damage.
    • Damage is distributed evenly between Impact b Impact , Puncture b Puncture , and Slash b Slash for normal attacks, slide attacks, and wall attacks.
    • Ground finishers abide by the damage formula and have a similar damage composition; the difference is that the Impact damage of ground finishers is increased by 25%.
    • Prompted finishers inflict 400% of the total damage from the formula as Finisher damage.
    • Weapon damage multiplier is affected by Power Strength.
    • Each attack adds to the Melee Combo Counter, and the damage is increased by the Combo Counter Multiplier.
    • Mods that affect base damage (i.e., Pressure Point, Spoiled Strike, and Steel Charge) are the only melee mods that can increase the weapon damage from the formula. As an example, a melee weapon with 30 base damage, +60% damage from Steel Charge, and +30% power strength will deal 300 + 1.75*1.3*30*1.6 = 409.2 damage.
    • Finishing Touch does not increase the damage of ground finishers or prompted finishers.
    • All attacks can hit a maximum of 5 enemies per strike with the exception of prompted finishers and slam attacks.
  • Slam attacks inflict 300 damage within a 5 meter radius. The slam attack of the equipped melee weapon is also inflicted as a separate instance of damage.
    • Primary damage is distributed evenly between Impact b Impact , Puncture b Puncture , and Slash b Slash .
    • The additional instance of damage from the acquired slam attack retains its original damage, damage type, status chance, area of effect, and any special properties (e.g., the Jat Kittag's explosive ragdoll effect). For example, a slam attack with an Amphis equipped will inflict 300 damage and 40 Electricity damage with a 100% status chance within 5 meters.
    • Damage is not affected by Power Strength, diminishes with distance, and is increased by body-part multipliers.
    • Faction Damage mods (i.e., Smite Grineer, Smite Corpus, and Smite Infested) are the only melee mods that can increase the damage of the acquired slam attack. Faction Damage mods have no effect on the primary slam attack damage or the damage of Hysteria's other attacks.
    • Enemies affected by the primary damage suffer a Knockdown.
    • Slam attacks do not add to the Melee Combo Counter, and the damage is not affected by the Combo Counter Multiplier.
  • Hysteria's attacks have an innate critical chance of 25%: a 10% chance for a critical damage multiplier of 100%, and a 15% chance for a critical damage multiplier of 200%. The critical damage and critical chance of the equipped melee weapon stack with those of Hysteria: additively for critical chance, and multiplicatively for critical damage.
    • Mods that increase the critical chance/damage of the melee weapon will affect Hysteria (i.e., Organ Shatter and True Steel). As an example, Dual Cleavers have a critical chance of 40% and a 570% critical damage multiplier with a maxed Organ Shatter and True Steel. With this weapon equipped, Hysteria's critical chance will be increased to 0.25 + 0.4 = 65%. This would imply a (0.1/0.25)*0.65 = 26% chance for 1*5.7 = 570% critical damage and a (0.15/0.25)*0.65 = 39% chance for 2*5.7 = 1140% critical damage.
    • True Punishment does not increase Hysteria's critical chance while channeling.
    • Hysteria's critical damage against special body parts abides by Critical Hit mechanics.
    • Slam attacks do not have a critical chance.
  • Physical/Elemental Damage mods (e.g., Jagged Edge and Fever Strike), Attack Speed mods (e.g., Fury), Status Chance mods, Melee Channel, Channeling mods, and Reach have no effect on Hysteria.
    • Hysteria's attack speed is independent of the equipped melee weapon's attack speed. However, speed buffs such as Warcry, Volt's Speed, and Berserker do affect Hysteria's attack speed. Berserker will not proc while Hysteria is active.
    • While channeling mods have no effect, it is still possible to use channeling attacks while Hysteria is active. Hysteria's attacks, with the exception of slam attacks and prompted finishers, can gain 50% damage from channeling at the cost of 5 energy per attack.
  • Cannot be recast while active.
  • Conclave rating: 10 / 10 / 50 / 90.

  • Her invulnerability can be taken advantage in reviving teammates in trade of not attacking enemies with her powerful claws.
    • This can also be used to escape powerful opponents at the middle point of this ability. Allowing greater hit and run tactics.
  • Hysteria benefits the most from weapons with high crit chance/damage multiplier and high base damage.
    • The Atterax is the weapon it will deal the most damage with.
  • Naturally, Companions are not affected by this power and thus are still vulnerable to damage and can easily die if the player puts themselves in heavy damage situations.
  • It's recommended to activate Melee Auto-targeting System in the options as Valkyr's awkward attack animation may miss a lot.
  • Status procs such as Bleeding cannot affect Valkyr while she is in Hysteria.
  • Be aware that Stalker has Dispel, and will purge off Hysteria's effects from you.
  • Her slide melee does not 'copter' well, as with all fist weapons, the uppercut animation slides well initially, but near the end when attack comes out you lose almost all of your momentum.
  • For best use of its lifedrain ability, down enemies and then use the finisher.
  • In general, try using quick normal attacks and combos against unarmored or lightly armored enemies, and use the slam attack for knockdown followed by a ground finisher on heavily armored enemies, since finisher damage will mitigate the target's armor, whereas damage from Hysteria's standard attacks, dealing physical damage, is being significantly reduced by armor.

Maximization is a form of specialization: mods may be blended to result in values that vary between the top-end limits listed here. Click any maximized link to learn how to build it.

  • While ability is activated, the player's melee weapon cannot receive any experience, such as shared experience from ally kills. (needs confirmation if this is still occurring)
  • Using Hysteria the moment you are downed by enemies will cause you to bug. Sometimes, you will only be able to use your actual melee weapon, but it will swing as though it is your claws; Other times you will be able to use your other weapons, and all while being invincible. You must wait until the effect ends for the bug to clear.
  • Despite being able to channel while under the effects of Hysteria, Channeling mods appear to have no effect. This is most likely due to the fact that it is a Warframe power and has nothing to do with the actual melee weapon, aside from borrowed stats from the weapon.
  • After using Hysteria, counterattack finishers performed with your weapon will use the fist-weapon finisher animation, regardless of the actual weapon carried.
    • This is hard to see as all enemies close to her will glow like this (possible bug).
  • Using this ability will also lead Valkyr into a "raged" state, everything she sees will turn a dark red hue and sounds will be muffled. This can make it harder to see in already dark areas (such as areas effected by environmental hazards)and can make it harder to pinpoint enemy locations.
  • To players who suffer low FPS (Frames per second) in-game will also suffer DPS loss as melee attacks are "semi-automatic".

Edit Tab

Valkyr is an assault Warframe with great offensive skills while excelling at mobility and a unique increase in stamina along with a decent sprint speed.  Having the highest Armor value among the Warframes so far, Valkyr is considered to be a passive tank similar to Saryn while being less prone to health damage. This makes Valkyr very durable and hard to kill. However, Valkyr also has the lowest shields of any Warframe currently in the game. Thus Redirection is of questionable value. It can be used to increase survivability, but the mod slot and points can be used for something arguably more useful since the shield bonus of Redirection is calculated through base shields, it is more useful on Warframes with high base shields.

Valkyr is also very good in boss fights provided she has enough energy to use Hysteria. Her high damage strikes and invulnerability makes burning a boss's health and/or shields very easy. However, players should be wary of the time left on Hysteria as chances are, if Valkyr is meleeing the boss, they will be focused on her as will any other enemies nearby. If she is in the middle of the fray when Hysteria deactivates, she can die very quickly as not even Valkyr can withstand high levels of firepower for very long. This may be negated by collecting enough energy to instantly re-enter Hysteria. In terms of building Valkyr around her 4th ability, she is best played with Rage, to support spamming the ability and Warcry, to further enhance it. While in this mode, you can replenish health fast by knocking down enemies with your ground strike and then restore 5% health with every finishing strike.

With Vigor, Vitality, and Steel Fiber equipped and maxed, an effective health of 4472 is possible, the highest possible for any warframe without using damage reduction abilities. With a maximized power strength mod setup and Warcry in effect, Valkyr's armor value increases by an additional 114.5% of its base amount, which stacks additively with Steel Fiber, achieving a maximum armor of 1947, the highest possible for any warframe under any circumstances. This overall increases her effective health to a value of 6441. Furthermore, at this armor value, each Physique aura increases her effective health by an additional 134.82, which sums up to a total of 6980.28 maximum possible effective health if all four players use this aura.

Bugs:

  • When using Ripline on a sloped part of ground you will first be pulled slowly forwards and then shot in a (nearly) 90° line up in the air
  • While using Hysteria and having high attack speed, for example with mods or Warcry, Valkyr sometimes glitches. This makes the attack animation look incomplete and awkward. She is still able to attack, but it will result in a big loss of DpS, due to a lower attack speed.
  • Continuous use of ripline, in a short period of time, on Mercury (survival mode) may cause Valkyr to be pulled out of the map.
