Forged in the labs of the Zanuka project, the original Valkyr was subject to cruel experiments, leaving her scarred, angry and frighteningly adept at killing.

Valkyr is the berserker of Warframes and joined the Tenno cause in Update 11. Driven by feral rage, her attacks rend her prey with fury and ferociousness, while her tortured cries break the imposing silence of the Tenno presence.

  • "Valkyr" is derived from Valkyrie. According to Norse Mythology, the Valkyries were a host of divine creatures in service of the gods that brought the "chosen" among the fallen up to Asgard (where the gods resided). It was generally believed that dying in battle with your honor intact was a sure way of being chosen.
  • She is the second female Warframe whose base stats defy a trend of fragility; despite having low shields she has the highest armor value out of all the Warframes.
  • Both her Warframe Profile video and in-game description state that she's a product (or possibly a failure) of the Zanuka Project.
  • Valkyr is the only Warframe which has human-like audible cries, voiced by the Digital Extremes community coordinator, Megan.
  • Valkyr is the 2nd Warframe to replace Alloy Plates with Circuits when building. (The 1st was Saryn.)
  • Valkyr is the most bio-mechanical of the Tenno, possessing tubes and wires on certain parts of her frame, plus what appears to be Corpus bindings fixed onto her arms and legs. This is most likely due to her being experimented on with Corpus technology. This technology is also located where her powers originate, which opens the possibility that these are simply enhancements to the Tenno that Valkyr once was. 
  • Valkyr is the newest and second Warframe that has been created within the current timeline of the game's history, with all the other frames either being recently discovered (like Oberon) or already existing, but all being made during the Great War. (with the exception of Nova who is said to be a recently developed Warframe under the Tenno Council)
  • In addition to the point above, Valkyr is the first Warframe that is not entirely of Tenno/Orokin origin, having Corpus tech installed (functional or not) in addition to her original Warframe.
  • Valkyr in many ways resembles and may be based off a feline or female wolverine, if only vaguely:
    • Hysteria gives Valkyr a set of claws.
    • An alternate helmet, Bastet, is named after an Egyptian Cat-headed Goddess of Home and Family.
    • Equipping a whip (Lecta or Scoliac) while using Hysteria gives the appearance of a tail, though it may possibly be just a bug.
  • Valkyr was the first Warframe to have more than 80 stamina, at 150. Hydroid later shared this stamina increase with his addition to the Warframe arsenal. 


  • Components are available from Alad V since November 25.
  • The melee bug affects Valkyr's ultimate, making you unable to attack.

  • Deals 300 / 400 / 500 / 600 Slash b Slash damage to a single target.
    • Damage is affected by Power Strength.
    • Can perform headshots.
    • Can perform a wall attack after it's been cast.
  • If not killed by the ability itself, it will rag-doll the affected enemy.
  • Can mutilate enemies, similarly to the Miter or the Glaive.
  • Is able to pull Valkyr across chasms and long gaps.
    • Rip Line does not pull Valkyr the full distance, from her starting position, to the targeted area.
  • It can also be used to pull allies, which is sometimes useful, as you can save a teammate from a group of enemies.
  • Increasing the range of this ability does not increase the pull strength on the player.
  • Scorpion uses a variant of Rip Line which can drag enemies, but excludes the Slash b Slash proc on impact of the hook.

  • This is another alternative ability for players to take advantage of heights quickly, similarly to Worm Hole, Super Jump and Teleport, pulling Valkyr to elevated areas which are not accessible with traditional movement.
  • This is also another alternative to take advantage with speed, allowing zip-lining on almost any location around a map.
  • It is possible to Rip Line onto a rocket fired from an Ogris.
  • It would seem that this is the only ability to reach beyond the 50-meter limit, allowing Valkyr to "rip-snipe" any enemies at a long distance about 75 meters more or less.
  • Pressing the melee key (default: E) while being towed by the Rip line will make Valkyr use her melee weapon's wall attack. This method can be an effective way to make use of the Obex's and Kogake's 2,200 damage wall attack.
  • In Conclave, this ability is rated very highly, as it allows the user to either travel quickly around an arena or pull and knock down the enemy, rendering them an easy target.

  • Very rarely, when pulling an enemy with Rip line the "rope" will not pull the enemy towards you and do no damage to the enemy, The "rope" also gets stuck between you and the enemy until the enemy is killed.

  • Buffs teammates' melee attack speed by 15% / 20% / 25% / 50% and armor by 25% / 35% / 45% / 50% while debuffing enemy speed by 15% / 20% / 25% / 30%. All multipliers are affected by Power Strength mods.
    • Increases your own armor as well.
    • All melee attack speeds are increased.
  • Lasts 7 / 10 / 12 / 15 seconds per cast. This is affected by Power Duration mods.
  • Has range of 15 / 20 / 22 / 25 in-game meters. This is affected by Power Range mods.
  • Affects the pod in defense missions, giving it more survivability.
  • May grant armor to Shadows (gives them a glowing effect, but it may just be the fact they are cloned enemies and it targets them for slowdown without affecting them).
  • Armor buff is calculated on base armor and does not consider Steel Fiber.

  • By combining a fully ranked Warcry with a Sentinel with Coolant Leak, melee enemies (particularly the melee-focused Infested) will be severely slowed down.
  • Very useful in Defense missions, as enemies are slowed down and the Artifact's armor is greatly enhanced.

  • Maximized Power Duration increases the time to 34.35 seconds.
    • Reduces range to 8.5 meters.
  • Maximized Power Efficiency reduces cost to 18.75 energy.
    • Reduces buff duration to 6 seconds.
  • Maximized Power Range increases range to 58.75 meters.
    • Decreases melee buff to 20%, decreases armor buff to 20%, and reduces the enemy speed debuff to 12%
  • Maximized Power Strength increases melee speed by 114.5%, armor by 114.5%, and decreases enemy speed by 68.7%.
    • Increases cost to 116.25 energy.

  • Deals 50% of current shields multiplied by 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 / 3.5 as Impact b Impact damage to enemies within range. The damage multiplier is affected by Power Strength mods.
  • Also knocks back enemies based on the push multiplier, also affected by Power Strength mods.
  • Has a range of 5 / 7 / 8 / 10 in-game meters. This is affected by Power Range Mods.
  • Drains 33% of your current shields on each cast.
  • Stunned enemies gain a Stealth Attack prompt that allows you to perform melee Stealth finishers on them, dealing 4X damage. This prompt can appear even when attacking from the front, and yields custom finisher animations identical to the ones performed using parrying counterattacks.

  • Shields drained this way will reset the shield recharge delay, as if Valkyr was hit.
  • Installing a decent Redirection and Fast Deflection mod helps by greatly improving the damage output as they are being utilized by this ability.
    • Redirection increases the damage through the lost in greater amount of shields.
    • Fast Deflection helps recover lost shields quickly.
  • Extended uses of this ability will recommend installations of Vitality and Steel Fiber mods in order to overcome damages after the Paralysis effects.
  • The way Paralysis treated is similar to Banshee's Sonic Boom dealing a blast with tremendous knockbacks, but doing a full 360 angle of damage with half of the original range.
  • Paralysis can be within the duration of Hysteria allowing Valkyr to expend her shields with no trouble receiving damage. This will still drain her shields in spite of her invulnerability.
  • This ability can be spammed due to its very low energy cost, this will heavily divide shields down to 0 if expended drastically, but it will give potential stunlocks to lesser enemies effectively.
  • This is the only 3rd ability, whose card is Uncommon, making it easier to upgrade.
  • This ability synergizes well with shield-based team totems such Team Shield Restore and Medium Team Shield Restore, as burst of shield recharges allow Valkyr to spam full loads of shield damage at a group of enemies more effectively.

  • The ability gives Valkyr a set of claws, which is the only usable weapon for the duration of the ability.
  • All attacks deal damage split evenly between Impact b Impact , Puncture b Puncture , and Slash b Slash .
    • Formula: 300 + 1.75 * Power Strength * Damage mods * Base damage of weapon
      • Weapon that does 30 base damage with +60% damage mod and +30% power strength: 300 + 1.75 * 1.3 * 1.6 * 30 = 409.2 damage
    • Damage is only affected by mods that change base damage (Pressure Point, Spoiled Strike, and Steel Charge).
  • Attack speed is independent of the equipped melee weapon's attack speed and attack speed mods.
    • Buffs such as Warcry, Volt's Speed, and Berserker stacks do affect Hysteria's attack speed. However, Berserker will not proc while in Hysteria.
  • Hysteria gains the Crit Chance and Crit Damage of the equipped melee, in addition to its own Crit Chance of 25% and Crit Damage of 200%
    • Both Crit Chances are applied independently, with the Crit Damage stacking multiplicatively if both crit.
    • There is a small chance of Hysteria producing a crit with 300% Crit Damage.
  • Physical/Elemental damage (Jagged Edge, Fever Strike), Status Chance, proc (Berserker, Melee Channel), Channeling, Range, and Faction Damage mods have no effect on Hysteria.
  • Regular attacks can hit a maximum of 5 targets per strike.
  • Has a duration of 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 seconds. This is affected by Power Duration mods.
  • 1% / 2% / 4% / 5% of damage done is regained as health. This is not affected by Power Strength mods.
  • Slam attacks use the slam attack of the equipped melee. For example a slam attack with Amphis equipped causes the electricity AoE.
  • While ability is activated, Valkyr is invulnerable to damage, and immune to stun, stagger, status effects, and knockdown.
    • While invulnerable, melee attacks will push her away, and shockwaves will cause her to bounce into the air slightly.
  • Coats random enemies in the selected energy color within a 5 meter radius of Valkyr. If any are not killed, all damage taken while invulnerable from these selected targets will be inflicted after Hysteria wears off.
    • Marked enemies will become unmarked if Valkyr moves out of range, negating the damage taken when Hysteria runs out.

  • Her invulnerability can be taken advantage in reviving teammates in trade of not attacking enemies with her powerful claws.
    • This can also be used to escape powerful opponents at the middle point of this ability. Allowing greater hit and run tactics.
  • Hysteria benefits the most from weapons with high crit chance/damage multiplier.
  • Naturally, Companions are not affected by this power and thus are still vulnerable to damage and can easily die if the player puts themselves in heavy damage situations.
  • It's recommended to activate Melee Auto-targeting System in the options as Valkyr's awkward attack animation may miss a lot.
  • Status procs such as Bleeding cannot affect Valkyr while she is in Hysteria.
  • Be aware that Stalker has Dispel, and will purge off Hysteria's effects from you.
  • Her slide melee does not 'copter' well, as with all fist weapons, the uppercut animation slides well initially, but near the end when attack comes out you lose almost all of your momentum.
  • For best use of its lifedrain ability, down enemies and then use the finisher.

  • While ability is activated, the player's melee weapon cannot receive any experience, such as shared experience from ally kills. (needs confirmation if this is still occurring)
  • Using Hysteria the moment you are downed by enemies will cause you to bug. Sometimes, you will only be able to use your actual melee weapon, but it will swing as though it is your claws; Other times you will be able to use your other weapons, and all while being invincible. You must wait until the effect ends for the bug to clear. 
  • Despite being able to channel while under the effects of Hysteria, Channeling mods appear to have no effect. This is most likely due to the fact that it is a Warframe power and has nothing to do with the actual melee weapon, aside from borrowed stats from the weapon.
  • After using Hysteria, counterattack finishers performed with your weapon will use the fist-weapon finisher animation, regardless of the actual weapon carried.
    • This is hard to see as all enemies close to her will glow like this (possible bug).
  • Using this ability will also lead Valkyr into a "raged" state, everything she sees will turn a dark red hue and sounds will be muffled. This can make it harder to see in already dark areas (such as areas effected by environmental hazards)and can make it harder to pinpoint enemy locations.
  • To players who suffer low FPS (Frames per second) in-game will also suffer DPS loss as melee attacks are "semi-automatic".

Valkyr is an assault Warframe with great offensive skills while excelling at mobility and a unique increase in stamina along with a decent sprint speed.  Having the highest Armor value among the Warframes so far, Valkyr is considered to be a passive tank similar to Saryn while being less prone to health damage. This makes Valkyr very durable and hard to kill. However, Valkyr also has the lowest shields of any Warframe currently in the game. Thus Redirection is of questionable value. It can be used to increase survivability, but the mod slot and points can be used for something arguably more useful since the shield bonus of Redirection is calculated through base shields, it is more useful on Warframes with high base shields.

Valkyr is also very good in boss fights provided she has enough energy to use Hysteria. Her high damage strikes and invulnerability makes burning a boss's health and/or shields very easy. However, players should be wary of the time left on Hysteria as chances are, if Valkyr is meleeing the boss, they will be focused on her as will any other enemies nearby. If she is in the middle of the fray when Hysteria deactivates, she can die very quickly as not even Valkyr can withstand high levels of firepower for very long. This may be negated by collecting enough energy to instantly re-enter Hysteria. In terms of building Valkyr around her 4th ability, she is best played with Rage, to support spamming the ability and Warcry, to further enhance it. While in this mode, you can replenish health fast by knocking down enemies with your ground strike and then restore 5% health with every finishing strike.

With Vigor, Vitality, and Steel Fiber equipped and maxed, an effective health of 4472 is possible, the highest possible for any warframe without using damage reduction abilities. With a maximized power strength mod setup and Warcry in effect, Valkyr's armor value increases by an additional 114.5% of its base amount, which stacks additively with Steel Fiber, achieving a maximum armor of 1947, the highest possible for any warframe under any circumstances. This overall increases her effective health to a value of 6441. Furthermore, at this armor value, each Physique aura increases her effective health by an additional 134.82, which sums up to a total of 6980.28 maximum possible effective health if all four players use this aura.


  • When using Ripline on a sloped part of ground you will first be pulled slowly forwards and then shot in a (nearly) 90° line up in the air
  • While using Hysteria and having high attack speed, for example with mods or Warcry, Valkyr sometimes glitches. This makes the attack animation look uncomplete and awkward. She is still able to attack, but it will result in a big loss of DpS, due to a lower attack speed.
